Senior Legal Counsel - Real Estate

About the Company:

Hays are working with a prominent family office and holding company with a diverse investment portfolio spanning across various sectors, including property development, business service providers, F&B, car rental and construction. With a newly established presence in Dubai, they are expanding the legal team to include a highly experienced Senior Legal Counsel with a specialisation in real estate to join their team.

Role Overview:

As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and advising the organisation on a wide range of legal matters related to real estate transactions, property development, and construction projects. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you will be an integral part of the legal team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and contribute to the success of company ventures.


1. Draft, review, and negotiate real estate development contracts, purchase agreements, sales agreements, lease agreements, and other related legal documents.

2. Provide legal counsel and guidance on matters concerning escrow accounts, property acquisition, and disposal.

3. Conduct due diligence on prospective real estate investments, identifying legal risks and proposing risk mitigation strategies.

4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, finance, and business development teams, to ensure legal compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

5. Stay up-to-date with Dubai's real estate laws, regulations, and industry trends, and provide proactive advice to the management team on legal implications and opportunities.

6. Represent the company in real estate negotiations and dispute resolution, both in court and in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

7. Assist in the development and implementation of standard legal templates, processes, and policies to streamline real estate legal operations.

8. Liaise with external legal counsel, government authorities, and relevant agencies to facilitate smooth transactions and regulatory compliance.

9. Provide legal support on procurement matters, contract management, and other legal issues related to the company's diverse investment portfolio.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Law from an accredited university; a Master's degree will be a plus.

- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a lawyer specialising in real estate matters, with a strong focus on development sales purchase agreements, escrow, and construction contracts.

- Prior experience working in the UAE, specifically Dubai, with a deep understanding of local real estate laws and regulations.

- Strong negotiation and drafting skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in legal documentation.

- Proven track record of handling complex real estate transactions and delivering practical legal advice to support business objectives.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks effectively.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
