Legal Counsel - Dubai / Riyadh

The client is an international consultancy in the Real Estate, Construction and Engineering sectors with offices across the Middle East.
The role will be overseeing the KSA legal function, from either the Dubai or Riyadh office, depending on the candidate's preference.
The ideal candidate should be fluent in both English and Arabic and hold extensive regional experience.
Your new role
In this role, you will serve as Legal Counsel, offering expert legal advice across various disciplines, with a particular emphasis on real estate civil law, commercial law, employment law, and company law.
Your Duties
- Assist with the daily operational activities of the company.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and various legal documents to include FIDIC agreements.
- Conduct contractual and commercial risk assessments for requests for proposals, offering support during the pre-tender phase.
- Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, while providing staff training and guidance on risk management and legal compliance.
- Review and draft internal policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with statutory and legal requirements.
- Advise on and ensure adherence to internal processes, procedures, and corporate governance standards.
- Support the Head of Legal by staying informed of new legislation and regulatory changes that could impact the company, providing guidance on necessary adjustments and conducting gap analyses.
- Ensure compliance with regional headquarters legislation, advising on necessary updates to company policies and procedures.
- Provide expert legal counsel on local labor laws, ensuring full compliance with employment regulations, worker rights, and employment contracts.
- Serve as the main point of contact for government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external legal advisors, ensuring clear communication and compliance with statutory obligations.
- Oversee corporate governance matters for company entities, including licence issuance, renewals, and corporate restructuring.
- Assist in dispute resolution processes such as negotiation, mediation, and arbitration by providing legal analysis, formulating strategies, and coordinating with external legal counsel as needed.
- Identify opportunities to enhance existing contracting processes, update procedures, or create new templates as necessary.
- Participate in meetings and committees as directed by the Head of Legal.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in law.
- Admission to the bar as a fully qualified lawyer is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic are a must.
- Require a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years of experience specifically covering operations or legal matters in Saudi Arabia
- Experience in the Real Estate, Construction or Engineering industry
- Excellent understanding of FIDIC contracts and construction law
- Strong communication skills
