The client is a globally recognised financial institution with operations across the Middle East and Asia.

Your new role

They’re looking for Legal Counsel to support their international operations in Asia and the Middle East.

The Legal Counsel will be based in our Dubai office and report directly to the Head of Legal. This role involves working closely with various teams to support our operations across the Middle East and Asia. The position offers a dynamic environment with generalist responsibilities and requires specialised legal expertise in commercial contracts and regulatory matters within the wealth management sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on regulatory, compliance, and legal matters pertinent to the wealth management business.
  • Draft, review, and monitor template legal contracts, and train stakeholders on their correct implementation.
  • Participate actively in negotiations, assisting in structuring and executing complex third-party contractual arrangements and corporate transactions.
  • Support teams in launching new product offerings, defining legal frameworks for the distribution of financial products, and managing legal risks within established parameters.
  • Review, draft, implement, and monitor policies, processes, and procedures related to legal support for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on projects and handle ad-hoc assignments as delegated by the Head of Legal.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and commercially focused legal advice to senior management, ensuring business objectives and targets are met while effectively managing legal risks.
  • Proactively identify, anticipate, and manage legal risks, taking corrective actions to safeguard the interests of the organisation across Asia and the Middle East.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Lawyer, preferably with a common law background.
  • 1–3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in an in-house legal role.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, both verbal and written, with strong communication and presentation skills in a multicultural, multi-level matrix environment.
  • Strong legal research and exceptional drafting skills.
  • Financial services background is preferred.
  • A self-starter with a proactive and positive attitude.
