This is an opportunity to join an exciting start-up manufacturing business, specialising in the Joinery and Fitout space.


Your new role

This leader will report directly to the CEO & General Manager and collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver monthly performance reports and monitor key KPIs. A comprehensive understanding of joinery/furniture manufacturing and lean manufacturing practices is crucial, along with demonstrated experience in managing large-scale operations.

Role summary:

Strategic Operations Management:
  • Oversee daily operations, production planning, and resource allocation.
  • Develop strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
  • Drive initiatives to meet production targets with high quality and timely delivery.
P&L Responsibility:
  • Manage the division's Profit & Loss.
  • Ensure budgets are managed and financial targets met.
  • Implement cost control while investing in people and technology.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles.
  • Identify and reduce waste, streamline workflows.
  • Engage the workforce in continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership:
  • Manage a diverse workforce.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a leadership team.
  • Promote a positive work environment and teamwork.
Quality and Performance Monitoring:
  • Implement quality control systems for luxury hotel projects.
  • Track KPIs and provide monthly performance reports.
  • Highlight strengths, areas for improvement, and action plans.
Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols for a productive environment.
Supply Chain Management:
  • Ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships for competitive pricing and quality.
Technology and Automation:
  • Integrate new technologies and automation.
  • Use ERP and factory management software for planning and optimisation.

What you'll need to succeed

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or any related field.
12+ years of experience in a senior operations role within the joinery or furniture manufacturing industry.
Proven track record in managing large-scale production facilities with a mix of blue-collar and white-collar workforce.
Expertise in lean manufacturing practices with a history of successful implementation and continuous improvement.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L for a manufacturing division.
Knowledge of ERP systems and production management software.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate a large, diverse team.
