Senior Legal Manager

Senior Legal Manager – Saudi Arabia, Jeddah

The client is a private company which operates within real estate development and is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Your new role

As the Senior Legal Manager, you will play a pivotal role in translating organisational strategies into actionable legal plans. You’ll oversee the Legal Department’s day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with local and global laws while safeguarding the organisation’s interests. With a focus on strategic planning, financial management, people leadership, and legal expertise, you’ll contribute to the companies’ success by providing sound legal counsel and fostering a culture of excellence within the Legal Department.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning:

Collaborate with the General Counsel to develop short- and long-term Legal Department strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
Monitor and update strategies as needed to adapt to changing legal landscapes and business priorities.

2. Budgeting and Financial Performance:

Prepare and monitor financial plans and budgets for the Legal Department, identifying areas for improvement and cost optimisation.

3. People Management:

Set objectives, manage performance, and motivate team members to achieve departmental goals.
Coordinate team activities to ensure alignment with annual business plans and procedures.

4. Legal Management:

Legal advice to company leadership on projects, deals, and investments, minimising liabilities and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Manage all legal aspects of partnerships, from risk assessment to execution, to protect corporate interests and align with business objectives. Negotiate with partners and industry players, resolve complex legal issues, and review agreements and contracts to safeguard the companies’ interests.

5. Contract Management:

Review and adjust complex contracts related to business activities, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Guide to function heads during transactions to protect the company from legal liabilities and develop standard form agreements across the organisation.

6. Policies, Systems, Processes, and Procedures:

Design and implement legal policies, procedures, and controls to fulfil legislative requirements and deliver high-quality services.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental practices in all legal activities.

7. Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for enhancing legal systems, processes, and practices to optimise efficiency and align with international best practices.

8. Reporting:

Prepare accurate department reports in compliance with organisational requirements and quality standards.

9. Communication and Working Relationships:

Collaborate internally with division/department managers, CEO, direct reports, and other company personnel as needed.
Engage externally with external consultants, service providers, and organisations as required.

What you'll need to succeed

KSA national preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field
7-10 years of relevant experience
Proficiency in English and Arabic
Master’s degree in Law or related field (LLM) preferred
Professional certification in related areas (e.g. PMP)
