Your new role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Operations Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will oversee transport, through air and road logistics. You will be responsible for coordinating safe and efficient operations, maintaining compliance with regulations, and fostering strong client relationships across multiple regions, with a primary focus on the GCC. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, strategic planning, and hands-on execution to ensure operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Logistics:
    • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including airlines, ground agents, veterinary services, and authorities.
    • Ensure compliance with all veterinary and customs regulations, managing documentation and procedures.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring service excellence and satisfaction.
    • Proactively resolve operational challenges to prevent delays and disruptions.
    • Track shipments and monitor flight and road schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
    • Handle after-hours operational needs as required to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Business Development & Strategy:
    • Oversee operations in key regions, including KSA and Bahrain, developing infrastructure and local relationships.
    • Negotiate competitive rates with suppliers, vendors, and airlines to balance cost-efficiency and service quality.
    • Develop operational systems and best practices that drive continuous improvement and scalability.
    • Identify opportunities for business growth by cultivating and maintaining client relationships, offering customized solutions to meet their needs.
  • Financial & Commercial Management:
    • Manage pricing, cost analysis, invoicing, quotations, and financial transactions.
    • Conduct regular supplier rate assessments and negotiations to maintain competitive pricing.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to manage receivables, payables, and prepare detailed job cost reports.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and mentor operations teams to ensure high performance and alignment with business goals.
    • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the team.
    • Review and update systems, policies, and SOPs to integrate new processes and maintain compliance with regulations.
    • Manage team scheduling and workload distribution to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Airfreight Manager or Operations Manager in a relevant industry, such as air charter, freight forwarding, equestrian, or live animal transportation.
  • A Bachelor's degree or Management Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic language skills are an advantage).
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Extensive experience in managing client relationships and delivering high-quality customer service.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs procedures and regulations for live animal shipments.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, costings, and negotiations.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • A commitment to service excellence and client satisfaction.
